The Seraphim's Talisman

Harking back to biblical times, the Seraphim I chose to depict in this piece has six wings and a multitude of eyes.

This illustration was embellished with gold leaf, acrylic pen, a gloss medium and gold paint. The whole design is slightly art deco in my eyes (mainly due to the background), but the art nouveau carries through with the peacock feather corner motifs.

 

I wanted this image to link with the Joan of Arc and Saint Catherine illustration, which can be seen with the sword. Here, the Seraphim is placing the sword, to be found by Joan, behind the altar in  Saint Catherine's church in France. You can even see Joan in the distance being guided through the mist by the light of the church windows.
