Jeanne d'Arc and the Angels

(Also known as Joan of Arc) is another figure from history to grace my series of goddesses. In my opinion, the bravery and determination of her spirit, is a complete inspiration to me.

I actually acquired this shutter style frame before working on the original illustrations. I knew I wanted to create something with a nod to traditional religious iconic art, as it has always been something I have loved. Joan of Arc, I think, has a remarkable story which still fascinates people to this day, so to me she seemed the ideal figure to grace my beautiful frame.

The original illustrations were laser engraved onto wood, gold leafed in sections, and set into the frame. A shelf was attached to the top brackets, with holes, so I could place lilies in glass vials. 

This is probably one of my most favourite pieces created so far.
